Transcripts and Academic Issues

Once final grades are posted, the OEA will request a set of official transcripts from the Office of the Registrar. This set of transcripts is provided at no cost to you, and it will be sent directly to your home institution.

If you need additional transcripts, you can order them through MyFIU. Specific instructions can be found on the website of the Office of the Registrar at

Important Procedures and Documents (IRS Form)

  • Attend the Farewell Breakfast Meeting at the end of the semester and complete all necessary pre-departure paperwork
  • Make sure that all financial matters are reconciled with the university, including both debts and refunds.
  • Complete IRS Form 8843.

The Internal Revenue Service of the United States requires that anyone who has been in the US for an extended period of time complete this form. Please note that you will not be held accountable or required to pay taxes to the US government.
